How do I make a piece of cloth smell like cat nip?

I bought a toy for my 2 cats not realizing it had cat nip in it. My cats opened the present and got out the cat nip. I'm working on making a quilt and have a extra piece of fabric and want to make a cat toy out of it without putting cat nip in it. How do I make the fabric smell like cat nip so they can play with it?
