Monk and venery in Canterbury Tales?
Look up “venery” in the OED find what else it can mean besides “hunting.” What details in the Monk’s portrait reenforce that other possible meaning? Who is speaking in 184-88? What is the irony in line 187, given Christian ideals of “service”?
