Traveling in new york?

i went to new york from new jersey, i am australian and was there on holiday. I got the train to penn station, then caught the subway down to south ferry and walked to where the ferry leaves... if you get a map of the subway then you can work out where abouts you have to go to get the train to the port. You will have to walk a little bit as the subway stop isnt right there. Its simple and the subway is so easy to get around with. I loved it and even though i got lost a couple of times i still thought it was easy. My boyfriend lives in elizabeth new jersey so i just got the new jersey transit to penn station... easy peasy.
